Vintage Mirror Mirrors…on the Grass

Peekaboo!

I didn't forget about you…mirrors.

A few weeks ago, after seeing the lovely old piece on the left (which was originally plain ol' oak like the dresser in the background) at a local antique mall…I left without buying it.

I could not

stop

thinking about it.

So I went back and bought it.

A few days later, I found the solid gold beauty on the right.

SOLID GOLD?

Yep, but no, not really.

Inspired by my friends who suggested a red treatment for the Chippendale Style mirror in 2 previous posts…

I gave it a red treatment.

No.

I didn't take before pictures of it either.

This picture makes me happy.

The End

ps  As I mentioned to the folks on facebook, before taking close-up pictures of mirrors and other types of glass…make sure your cleaning attempts haven't left behind any fluffy goodness.

Vintage Stool Makeover: from Oogly to the Cat's Meow!

Hi there!

How do I look?

Please don't tell anyone, but I've had a little work done.

You may look at me and think, "WOW!  How did you shed all of those layers?"

The truth is…I didn't.

Nope.

Not a single one!

"Meowwwrrr!!"

(Buddy, inadvertently perfectly posed and snapped the very same day...)

"What?"

Beautiful, right?

Mmmm…I wasn't just lovely on the outside, I was falling apart!  Fortunately, I didn't have to have my photo taken when I completely fell to pieces.

Don't worry!

All I needed was a little liquid nail treatment…after a gentle sanding.

Priming

&

Painting

A little more sanding…

Waxing

Buffing

…and I am good to go!

Vintage Traditional Mirror Makeover: A Chip off the Old Marblehead

I had in mind a certain sweet color scheme for the Chippendale-Style Mirror I found at a local antique mall last month.

Looking "refinished" and in need of a little love, I asked y'all what color you thought it wanted to be.

Jenny, Amanda and Heidi thought a deep dusty barn red with bits of black and gold would be fabulous.

Kate was thinking, "A light purple with a nice pearl gloss."

My friend Amy, little sister of one of my East Coast college buddies said, "A faded light blue green."

Which happens to be EXACTLY what I was thinking.

When my friend Marcia, who like Amy and her big sister, Jenn…hales from a fabulous old town just north of Boston…saw the "thumbnail" of the photo below on facebook,

She said...

It looks like an artist's rendition of Massachusetts!

How sweet is that!!
