Coconut Cream Pie Cupcakes

It's official, these dreamy little desserts need their own email address.

Seriously!

I found these sweet wonders on Cake Central around 1am this morning while dreaming up cupcake flavors and searching for photos to capture their yummy goodness for my pinterest board.

Within minutes…it had 50 repins.

The next moment I looked, 241…and by the time I closed my computer to hit the hay for the "night," 355.

Mmmm….

I'm receiving hundreds and hundreds of emails regarding people who are just cuckoo for coconut.

Prior to last night, my little cupcake page only had a few links.  I decided to start stacking up more dreamy dollop-topped wonders after receiving notification after notification that folks were visiting & "liking" my wee board.

Hold on a second.  I'll be right back.

357 likes 2869 repins and counting…

uh, nope, 2885!!!

whew!

Who'da thunk that a few flakes would cause such a stir?
………………………….
I do not know if the poster on Cake Central is the original source for the photo, nor did I find a recipe connected with the Coconut Cream Pie Cupcakes, but as someone who loves to bake…I'd certainly like to create one.  In the meantime, I've pinned all sorts of other fabulous coconut desserts for you, You can find them on several of my boards.
………………

Happy Drooling!!!

My Little Chest Before & After...

C'mon…what did you think I meant?

When I was little, my mom bought a bedside table and a lingerie chest at an unfinished furniture store...with every intention of making them pretty.

That didn't happened.

One day, in the late 1990's, while I was home from fashion school in L.A. to help my daddy…who had cancer, I decided it was time for a make-over.

I hauled the chest from wherever it'd been dwelling, removed the pulls, grabbed my beloved block-sander, a gift from my big brother Bryan, and went to work.

(First, I CAREFULLY HIT IT ALL OVER WITH A HAMMER…the chest, not the sander)

After vacuuming away the dust from every nook and cranny, and wiping it down with a slightly damp cloth, I applied at least one layer of Daniel Smith's Black Acrylic Gesso.

GESSO?

Yep, gesso.

After that dried, I applied some leftover forest green paint (hey, it was the 90's) and then a layer of some sort of white.

I'm thrifty that way.

After a light sanding and an unfortunate rub of some "antiquing" variety…I gave it a good wax.
(it makes things nice and shiny without looking like plastic)

VoilĂ !

A couple of decades is all it took!!!
(Oh, and I swiped the knobs off of Bryan's childhood dresser to replace what was left of the ones original to the chest.  It okay…it was just housing discarded parts & tools in the garage.)

Oh, and the bedside table…it's still not pretty.

In other news,

It's the second week of the New Year…when is the last time you cleaned out & organized your handbag??

Happy Monday!

Georgie & the Old Green Trunk

In case you haven't heard the news…

This is Georgie.

George Henry is my twenty pound puppy cat and behind him…is an ooooold trunk that came over to the New World with one of my Swedish great grandfathers.

Yep.

That is all.

Oh, and while attempting to write this gargantuan post with my laptop on my lap and a kitty nestled under a blanket on my tummy…a big old tabby decided to hop up onto my chest and lick my nose.

Ew!!!

That is all.

I hope you have a happy relaxing Sunday!

ps  I was asked the other day how to follow my blog, as I have removed the main "followers" link.  There should still be links to subscribe to posts and/or comments on the sidebar.  There is also a "follow" link at the top of the blogger page next to the right of the "search" box.  I hope that helps!  I really appreciate that y'all take the time to visit my blog and to leave kind words of encouragement…

A Bokeh Christmas Wish...

A couple of weeks ago, I said, "Lord, could I please learn how to take some great bokeh shots?"  I was blessed with a new camera for my birthday last spring, but for many reasons, have yet to take the time to really get to know it.  And then, within days of the aforementioned request, whilst sitting behind the counter in my shop, looking at my little world through the camera's lens…

I saw this sweet goodness!

And this!

And outside the shop, in my little lane…I saw this!

Nestled in the house with...

Alice and the Snowy Wood...

For the last two years, I've been blessed to head out to the mountains to hunt for my Christmas tree with my great friend and neighbor, Alice.

2011

This year, Alice's wee girlies were out of school just in time to join us.

As usual, I followed along with my camera…

…while they did all the serious work.

What a joy!
