Wedding Prep...

I promised to take pictures for ya'll during every little step of the prep for the wedding/reception my friends are throwing for their nephew & his bride-to-be.

His name is Fin.

......................................................................

I hope YOU had a BEAUTIFUL day.  It was SO lovely in the Seattle area....a wonderful day for two trucks & a trailer to head over the mountain filled with rustic goodies for a "harvest" wedding.

Thank you, Alice, for hitting the road with me today!

Thank you, Muriel (Alice's sister), for letting us snip whatever we wanted out of your garden!

Thank you, mama, for picking up Alice's wee girls from the school bus & hangin' out with them 'til their daddy returned home from work!

............................................

Thank you, Jenny, for inviting us over to play!

The Big Kitchen Hutch's New Party Clothes...

I'm running late.

I need to work on some fun projects for the upcoming wedding at my bff's house.

{I will be taking pictures of every li'l step for ya'll!}

In the meantime...

...I heard that Jen Rizzo was having a party.

And my big kitchen hutch was looking a little sad.

Wouldn't you feel melancholy if you had to wear the same thing...day after day...whilst you were sitting in the corner...next to a couple of show-offs?

The little breakfast hutch, much smaller & daintier than the big hutch, has already been featured in new duds.

And the soffit, well...

...the brand-new soffit has been looking down fairly smugly on the poor old hutch...ever since it was featured on tv in all of its finery.

So, how would you feel?

Hmmmm....?

Wouldn't you want to invite the poor old hutch to a party?

.........................................

Would you like to see it in its new duds?

Would you?

.......................................................

I didn't want to make a fuss.

I just used things I already had.

As I've said in the past, I like to keep my backgrounds neutral...so that I can easily change up the accessories for a new look.

{I will tell you all about them in another post.}

The big kitchen hutch, however, was not yet satisfied with its new look.

...........................................................

Do you know why?

Well...

...IT WANTED BANGS!!!

: p

I hope that you are having a fantastic week!  Please visit Jennifer Rizzo's blog to see a bevy of beautiful hutches!

The Islands Have It...

Here are just a few wee things I found whilst out treasure hunting recently.

Vintage Sconce ~ Petite Retreat

Yummy Striped Yardage x Two ~ Seabold Vintage Market
{via Petite Retreat}

Vintage "Mr. John Jr." Cloche ~ Local Barn Estate Sale

Mmmmmm....

And this...

Lovely Birthday Necklace ~ Tippy Stockton!
{Also via Petite Retreat!}

So, what are YOU doing this weekend?

Sweet Patricia of Tippy Stockton is visiting the Land of Ten Thousand Lakes for The Creative Connection Event...but if you're going to be anywhere near the Puget Sound this weekend,  (Bainbridge & Camano Islands, to be exact!) Deb & Liz are having their fall shows!!!

Need I remind you of this?

....................................................................

And this?

Seabold Vintage Market at Barn House

Mhmmm...

Please visit Petite RetreatSeabold Vintage Market for more information about the wonderful shows this Saturday.
{That's tomorrow!!!}

............................................................................

Now, in regard to my little display of treasures, I absolutely DO NOT recommend using an intact hat as a lampshade!  I only left it on for a few seconds while I snapped some shots.  I had a wee lampshade UNDER the hat...but it was too small for the sconce.  Would you like to know how I pulled the rest of the scene into place?

Remember this?

I removed the plate and aprons from the wall ~ pulled the striped fabric through a loop of twine and draped it on the plate screw & over the apron rack ~ the screw was too large for the sconce's hanger dealie...and I didn't want to make a fuss...so I just rested the sconce in front of the fabric between two of the apron hangers ~ draped the necklace ~ added a little lampshade & threw on the hat!

VoilĂ !

I hope that YOU have a gorgeous weekend!

I will be hangin' out in the toolies, helpin' my mama...because my grandma fell on her.  Grandma is fine.  Mom is sore...hobblin' on crutches for a few days.  Oy.  Will you please pray for her comfort & quick healing?

Thank you!

Invasion of the Froggy Hampers...

The plan had been to head into town for a flea market with my mama this Saturday in honor of what would have been my parents' 45th Wedding Anniversary.

But life happened.

My mom's schedule changed and I found out that some dear friends would be moving across the mountain...that very same day.

So, what's a girl to do?

Well, I helped my friends move, of course!  Ya'll didn't really need to see another post about a about fancy flea right now...did'ja?

Hmmm?

Speaking of fleas...

Li'l Froggy was almost TOO fat to fit in his seat.

In fact, the poor green thing wasn't feeling so keen on Saturday.

I was afraid that mid-mountain, on the way to his new home, Froggy might toss his cookies and all sorts of bits n' pieces of unmentionables would start flying through the air...at my head.

No.

That would not be a good thing at all!!!

But...that was the least of my problems.

"Grrrrarrr...."

I hope ya'll had a blessed weekend and are looking forward to a bright new week!

On This Day...I Thee Help Decorate!

It pays to be friends with a packrat shopkeeper.

Just hours before my friend Liv's little brother was set to walk down the aisle, she called me with a request for baskets for her wee flower girls.

So, as her husband rushed off to the grocery store to fetch some roses, I hopped in my car and went on a hunt in The Little Red Shop (and storage) in search of a proper selection of baskets and decorative accessories for my friend.

Next stop...the hairdressers' shop.

Curling iron in hand, Liv stepped away from fixing a bridesmaid's coif to check out the goodies and say...

"Oooh!"

"Those....with a little of that!"

The lil' green trunk was my last purchase at the 2009 Farm Chicks Show.

I then headed back down the road...to tear apart some roses.

It's always fun to see how things come together in a flash!

How sweet is she!
{Miss T's lil' sis was unavailable for this photoshoot...as she was in the house, busily packing up her Barbie backpack for the weekend}

And now,

How would you plan an AUTUMN event with a wee lil' budget?

Another dear friend has an upcoming wedding in the family.  My bff Jenny's nephew just got engaged.  The groom, the son of Jenny's husband Casey's beloved late sister...is a Fireman, EMT, AND our handyman!  This lovely bride and groom will be walking down the aisle in just over 4 weeks and then receiving their guests in Jenny & Casey's beautiful home.  With a pretty modest budget, and the help of a few designer friends, : )  Jenny is planning the wedding.  We are having loads of fun getting ready to deck the church and "reception hall" for fall.  Look out storage...here I come!

............................................................................

May God bless you and those who are remembering their loved ones this September 11th, which also would have marked my parents' 45th Wedding Anniversary.  My precious daddy went to be with the Lord one month prior to my parents' 34th Anniversary.

Lil' G's First Ferry Ride

Mt. Rainier

Camping on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula with a group of good friends was one of the highlights of my summer.

The Olympic Mountains

With my friend Liv's hubby driving directly from work in town...she and her kiddos decided to go along with me!

The girlies were definitely ready to hit the road.

Lil' G wasn't quite so sure.

And when it came to having his picture taken...he was not a happy camper.

So, I had to be sneaky.

While Liv and one of the girlies stepped away for a moment...Lil' G and his biggest sis decided to do a little bird-watching.

"I love you."

"I love you!"

"I love you..." Lil' G could still be heard softly saying as his mama returned to the car...with her stuck-in-traffic hubby on the phone.

"He's saying that he loves his daddy," Liv told Big G.

"I love you...," I heard the sweet lil' boy voice whisper from behind me once again, "I love that BIRD!"

hee hee

I love this picture...even though it's a little dark and grainy and crooked.

Big G's boy was certainly excited about his first trip on a ferry...

...but we had all hoped that his daddy could be there for the ride.

It is, however, just an itty bitty trip and Lil' G's daddy...

...was waiting just around the bend.

But this time...when the wee tow-headed boy whispered, "I love you," he wasn't talking to a big birdie.

To be continued...

I hope ya'll have a beautiful week!
