Little Red Shopgirls...

Somebody special is having a birthday...

...so, two of my favorite little shoppers stopped by this afternoon to pick out a gift.

Decisions...decisions....

Out of oodles of lovely papers....Lil' Em chose a pretty striped red for her sweet friend, who is quite fond of Olivia...the pig!  I can't tell you what's inside the package...it could ruin the surprise!

........................................................

Shortly after leaving The Little Red Shop with her wee girls, my friend Alice called to say she was making dinner...and my mama and I were invited, along with our dear friends Liv and Glen and two of their wee ones.

.........................................................

Soon, after arriving at their cottage....I dodged a paper airplane...aka, one wee friend's Father's Day gift for her daddy.

.........................................................

So, I showed one Lil' Miss Em what happens when one throws paper airplanes at Miss Julie!

After receiving her brand-new "do" for her "don't," Lil' Em flew out the door to show her daddy...and to pause and pick a flower.

One Lil' Birdie wanted something sweet for her hair too!

I hope you have a lovely weekend!  I have to pick Alice up first thing in the morning...we're heading off for a great junkventure!

The Farm Chicks Show ~ Day 1

I don't know how to explain to you how crazy it is...attending something as wonderful as the Farm Chicks Show...when you live in blogland.  It's not like stopping by your local Art Festival on a sunny summer afternoon, where you'll find...random people...macramé...and "oil paintings."

Oh, no....at amazing events like the Farm Chicks Show...lovely treasures lurk around each and every corner, and people you know...who you don't REALLY know...though you "talk" with them almost daily...pop up, camera in hand, to say "hello!"  Did you get that???  Imagine having someone you know standing right next to you...but you don't even know it because you have never really met them...in real life...until now.

Case in point:  Several blog friends and lovely new acquaintances sent me emails, tweets, and facebook notes while I was on the road...on my way to the show.  It was great fun knowing that I would be bumping into a few friendly, if not yet familiar, faces...which included those of wonderful and amazingly sweet vendors!

I had a lovely visit with Isabel, from Maison Douce.

It was whilst visiting Isabel's beautiful booth...

...that I looked right beside me and recognized a new little "do"...

Sure enough, it was Jen from Sanctuary Art...(isn't her necklace fantastic!)...who was shopping w/ Tara...who paused for a hug (per Becky's request)...before snapping this photo.  Their travel buddy, Tracey, they chimed in...was just a few booths away...

Just around the corner and a moment later...

I had a wonderful visit with Deb!

Once again,  the Retreat booth was not to be missed (and Petite Retreat is coming up next weekend!!!)

What a stunner!

Another gal thought so too...

...but I'm getting ahead of myself...

(and yes, Jen, I cropped myself out of this pretty picture of you and your lil' sweetie!)

Jen and Lil' Hazel from The Chronicles of Windy Ridge

and

Jen tweeted from the south as I twittered from the east...on our crazy road trips to the show!

Oh, what fun!

Now, remember the gal who was busily snapping away...back in Deb's booth?

I couldn't see her face...

...but I knew it, I just knew....

...it was Tracey, from French Larkspur!  Sanctuary Art Jen snapped our photo....right after she wrapped up her appearance on "Retreat, the Debi Ward Kennedy Show."

Ha!

Just kidding!  But wouldn't this make a great t.v. set?

: )

More scoop from the show...coming soon!

I believe this little vignette is from Junebug.  If ya'll recognize any other vendor's fantabulous treasures in my photos...please let me know!

Thank you!

Have a gorgeous week!

ps  Due to the crazy nature and crowds at the show (and my lack o' skill) some photos may appear a tad fuzzy.

pps  Please hop on over and visit Rhoda, of Southern Hospitality, for another round of Thrifty Treasures!

Dad

This is one of my favorite pictures of one of my very best friends.

Andrews' Cabin, Whidbey Island, circa 1970-something

Quick-witted, close-talking, God-fearing, hymn-singing, family/food & friend-loving, storytelling,  roller coaster-riding, board game-playing, movie-geek'n...

Dad

Big-time-snoring, big-time dreaming, belly-laughing, coffee-hating, pink shirt-wearing, mom-adoring...

Dad

I know he wasn't perfect...

But he is now!

{Updated:  Father's Day, 2012}

This year will be the ninth year (now 11th) my daddy will celebrate Father's Day with his father...and our Father...in heaven…and the first with my big brother, Bryan.

{Now…back to 2010}

May God richly bless you and your loved ones...and may you cherish each and every moment of time you have with them!

Happy Father's Day!

ps  In honor of my dear daddy, my mama and I attended the late-showing of "Killers" last night.  If you enjoy  good old early 1980's silly spy-spoof TV fun...like Magnum P.I., Scarecrow & Mrs. King, Remington Steele, and Hart to Hart...then this is the movie for YOU!!!

The Lights Are On...

...but nobody's home.

Cool, groovy random light fixture from The Farm Chicks Show.  Isn't it swell?

I hope you are too!

Thank you for patiently waiting for new posts during my not-homeness!  The dishes...and my trip photos...are seriously piling up....!!!

The Farm Chicks Show & Today's Country Store...

While I give my mind a rest from trying to figure out where to begin telling you about the Farm Chicks Show....I thought I'd let a few pictures speak for themselves.

It was lovely seeing Kris & Amy of Today's Country Store again.  Their beautiful shop is located in historic Sumner, Washington.

If antiques, bungalow siting, and lunching with friends is your cup of tea...then you'd best head on down to this cool little 'burb located south of Seattle...just a hop, skip and a traffic jam from Ikea.

Oops...I didn't edit the water bottle and cup out of this shot...but it's the real deal.  Shopgirls get thirsty too!  That's how I became a complete and utter Diet Cokeaholic.  But it's all good, I've been fizz-free for, what..3 1/2 years?

Did I just write that out loud?  Hmmm......

What a cute set of drawers...

and

this sweet little mug ~ well, it's getting a little peace & quiet.

I hope you are too!

More scoop from the show...coming soon!

Auntie M & Farmgirl Grandma...

Whew!

I've barely been home since I've been home!  So, while I'm off sorting through hundreds of photos from my road trip and dozens from the Farm Chicks' Show...

I thought I'd share a wee Nebraskan blast from the past with ya'll.

..........................................................................

The Little Red Shop is proud to present...

M & M

Great Aunt Mary and Farmgirl Grandma...Marie!
(Yes, the one born in the eight-sided house)

Aunt Mary had a lot to do with my life and breath....as SHE is the one who introduced my grandma to her bronco-bustin' lil' brother.  But THAT is a story for another day.  Aunt Mary, who went to be with the Lord in 2005, would have turned 101 this year.  We had a lovely time visiting with Gloria, Aunt Mary's daughter, after my mama's high school reunion.  As the Wonder Twins' first first cousin, Gloria is helping to fill us in on some of the missing pieces of our family puzzle!

Thank you, Gloria!  It was lovely meeting you!

Oh, and my farmgirl grandma...yeah...at 89, she is still a little firecracker!

Barn Chicks...

Last weekend, (the one before this past weekend)...one half of the Wonder Twins and I dropped my mama off at her high school reunion luncheon and then headed off for a little drive down the backroads of my Nebraskan grandparents' birthplace.

What a gorgeous day!

We saw loads of lovely farms...

...but this is the view...

...from the barn on the farm....

...with the eight-sided house...

...where my grandma was born!

And this is the gate to the house 'cross the way...

...where my grandma dreamed she would, one day, PLAY!

Thank you so much, Auntie Georgia, for the beautiful tour!

.................................................................

I hope ya'll are having a lovely week!  (I'm listening to the rain pelt the roof as I write)

pps  I hope to post more about The Midwestern Junkin' and Family History Huntin' Tour with Lil' Red and the Wonder Twins soon...along with all of the scoop from the Farm Chicks' Show!  I had to make a trip "into town" yesterday to fetch Peep, who boarded at the vets' while we were hittin' the road.  She is doing quite well and is sooo happy to be home.  I may just have to change her name...because she has quite the big little voice now and loads of things to say.

Oh, and before I forget....ya'll need to head on over and visit my blog friend Mary, aka Urban Farmgirl.  She's giving away a $50 Pottery Barn gift card!!!

Yeehaw!!!
